Yesterday the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® issued year end results for 2011. For the 5th straight month the REALTOR® Market Index was up over the same time last year. On a month-to-month basis the RMI was up compared to November.

Western Massachusetts real estate sales have risen over the last 5 months, however, MassLive reported yesterday that the Pioneer Valley fell 4% in 2011 according to information released from the REALTOR® Association of Pioneer Valley. To read more . . .

Greenfield, MA Winter Carnival

February 3rd-5th, 2012 Greenfield will hold the 90th year celebration of the Winter Carnival.  Three days of winter indoor and outdoor events will take place at Beacon Field and around town.  With a warm winter, some events have been canceled, however, there are still plenty of events to take the family.  Visit the exhibits, enjoy the bonfire, be sure to root your friends running in the Sleigh Bell Run, and Breakfast with Frosty is still on. Check out the website to make your plans.

Martin Luther King, Jr had a dream of a better America; one way to fulfill that dream is to volunteer in your community.  The website Volunteer Match gives you an opportunity to see how you can assist and help fulfill the dream.
The American Friends Service Committee will host a walking tour beginning at 9:00 a.m., meet at the Sojourner Truth statue (intersection of Pine and Park Streets) in Florence. Steve Strimer who will lead a walk by homes of Sojourner Truth, Basil Dorsey, and David Ruggles.
At 11 a.m. at the Edwards Church in Northampton there will be workshops for all ages, hosted by local organizations like OutNow, Jobs with Justice and Community Action.
From 1 p.m.-3p.m. The celebration titled "Preserving Civil Rights" will take place at the Edwards Church with special speakers and more.
Greenfield Community College will host an event beginning at 1 p.m. in the Sloan Theater with special speaker Baily W. Jackson, III. Open to all.
